Category: Design & build
Garden style: Subtropical rainforest

We were approached to design and build the front yard initially which then turned into the side and back as well.  They wanted a native subtropical feeling with some sort of water feature by the front door.  The front is South facing so it needed to be appropriate for a lot of shade in Winter which lent itself perfectly to the theme.

Our approach

We sourced a lot of unusual and rare plants (as we usually do) to make this design stand out as it was the entry to the house.  We created a running water feature that made it feel like the stairs were built around it.  We used several types of tree fern from the Eastern coast as well as palms, ground covers and native water species.  The garden has matured beautifully and the pond has native fish that call it home.  We have used exotics throughout the natives to give it a more tropical feel but still making sure it resembles something you would visit in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The garden has a drip irrigation system and garden lighting throughout.

We still carry out fortnightly maintenance on this property including mowing, hedging, pruning, pest and disease management, fertilising, mulching etc
