Gardens to visit in Brisbane
There are many beautiful gardens around Brisbane that you could easily spend the day at with the kids, or just exploring on your own. Here’s 5 we think you should visit.
1. Roma Street Parklands
Located on the north side of the CBD, this contemporary public park includes a rainforest and fern gully, a lake precinct, and Spectacle Garden. Covering 16 hectares, the park also includes sprawling lawns, designer gardens, children playgrounds, and year-round events.

2. Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens
Known as Queensland’s premier subtropical botanical gardens, Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens is only a 10 minute drive from the city centre. The gardens include a fern house, bonsai collection, arid zone, fragrant plants and herb garden, National Freedom Wall, Japanese garden, bamboo grove, rainforest, children’s trail, tropical display dome. The gardens offer self guided and free guided tours, as well many events held year-round.

3. City Botanical Gardens
Just a short 10 minute walk from the city centre, the city botanical gardens is the perfect visit for the weekend, or on your lunch break. With a bamboo grove, mature palms, riverside walk, lakes, fountains and ornamental ponds, and avenue of weeping figs, there is something to please everyone.

4. Redlands IndigiScapes Centre
The Redlands IndigiScapes centre features many indigenous plants, a native nursery, bush tucker garden, and a number of designed gardens that showcase different native habitats.
Just 30 minutes south from Brisbane CBD, the centre also has a cafe, multiple garden trails and year-round events.

5. Southbank Parklands
Running along the Brisbane Rive, Southbank Parklands is known for the bougainvillea-covered one kilometre-long Grand Arbour, as well as the large Streets Beach lagoon. With multiple yea-round events for the family, the kids will be kept entertained either in the lagoon, playgrounds or lawned areas. Don’t forget the productive Epicurious Garden, Cafés and restaurants within and surrounding the park.
